SAP is a company that develops and sales many software applications. Of course, the most well-known of them is SAP R/3, also known as SAP ERP, SAP ECC and now SAP S/4HANA. There are also other products like HANA, SCM, CRM, Concur, Successfactor and so on.

Each of these products is very complex. It is not easy or even possible to learn of its features yourself. That is why training is one of the most demanded services in the SAP ecosystem. What are the training options you have?

Of course, there are in-class and online courses provided by SAP itself, which are expensive, but also probably the most quality-assured.

There is also SAP Learning Hub, which contains many online courses. You can subscribe to it yourself directly via SAP or via many partners-resellers. Some resellers will provide you with discounts or any other incentives.

Then you can find hundreds of third-party education centres that provide in-class and online courses. The quality of these training centres may vary, and it is only your responsibility to choose a centre that delivers the quality you require.

And now, there is another training provider that is available for everyone: OpenSAP. It is different to all others in many aspects. Let me explain.

  1. First of all, OpenSAP is a free resource. You do not pay anything for trainings delivered by OpenSAP. You only need to have an Internet connection for that.
  2. Second, OpenSAP courses are provided online with recorded training videos. This means that you can learn at your own pace. At the same time, you do not have an option to ask your question during the training session. Though, some training courses have “discussion boards” where you can ask your questions and get responses from colleagues or even trainers.
  3. Third, and probably most important for most, OpenSAP courses are not intended for deep-dive learning of SAP solutions. Instead, they provide a high-level overview of existing, or sometimes even planned solutions. There are even some learnings that are not about SAP at all from the first sight. For example, Basics of Design Testing or Be Visual! Sketching Basics for IT Business.

  4. Fourth, OpenSAP courses provide you with a record of achievement and a virtual badge that you can stick to you CV or online profile. And that achievement is really confirmed by SAP itself.

Have you used OpenSAP courses before? Have you found them useful for your purposes?
